2012 is now complete and with that chapter closed, it's fun to look back on all the great things of the year. I really had a decent year but I still found the light when things were dark and managed to fall in love with things. So here is a handful of things I loved about the sweet year, 2012.

Batman: Dark Knight Rises:
Contrary to the popular "No, the Dark Knight was the best Batman" argument, I honestly think that The Dark Knight Rises was the best Batman in the trilogy. I feel like it completely wrapped up the end of the Christian Bale era with a pretty little bow and not to mention, they featured two of my favorite men EVER as the villain and the budding super hero in disguise. Hey, don't judge me if I was lusting after Tom Hardy the whole movie. I know he was a little banged up, but he's still my man. And Joseph Gordon Levitt, all I can say is call me.

Moonrise Kingdom:
Just like any other Wes Anderson movie, Moonrise Kingdom was perfect. From start to finish, I was in love. The filming of the movie was the typical Anderson style and one of the best parts of the movie was without a doubt the wardrobe. I was dying over the fact that a nine year old had a more interesting life than I did. Not to mention the fact that she looks like a 70's starlet and she hasn't even hit puberty yet. I'm jealous.

A Necessary Death:
Although I just saw it this year and even went out on a limb to watch it, it easily became one of my favorite movies of all time. I stumbled across this gem on Netflix and when I read the description, I was stuck. The plot was so different and, stupid me, I thought it was a real documentary. Needless to say, thinking these were real people and this was an actual thing happening, I was bawling pretty much half way on. The characters are so lovable and thats why it breaks your heart so easily. You fall in love with them and then the whole story turns so dark. It's a tough thing to watch but it's a tragically beautiful movie.

Disclaimer: It's about to get hella cheesy.
I think the things that happened this year were all things that made me completely and totally grow as a person. I've never felt more grown up than after this year and the people I've met, the things I've done, I've come so far. I'm thankful for everyone in my life but for the most part, the thing I'm the most proud of is myself. I've never done anything for myself this much until 2012. I actually grew up, took hold, and acted on what I wanted and what I thought was best for myself. I learned to never trust too much, I learned that I am capable of so much, I learned that nothing is permeant, I learned that I need to take care of myself, which I did. This year, I was sad, I was happy, I lost friends, I gained friends and I'm ready for whats next in my life. So here are some things that I loved that happened in 2012:

First: I had the utmost greatest pleasure of reading my SIGNED copy of The Fault in Our Stars by one of my favorite authors of all time John Green. If you want to cry and laugh and read a book that will make you want to fall in love, read TFIOS. I will always love this book and it remains as one of my favorites right alongside Looking For Alaska.

Second: I ran for homecoming queen at my school with one of my best friends and even though I didn't win, it was still a really fun and exciting experience. We're the real winners though. Jacob and Cassie represent.

Third: I went to Europe and had the absolute most amazing time. You never really have an experience like this and I was lucky enough to go with a great group of people. I made friends and we will share this bond forever. I will never forget about the time I spent there. From getting to the airport and our nineteen hour flight to being chased around a small hotel by a team, thats right I said TEAM of gorgeous Italian soccer players (I know you're jealous), the trip was perfect.

Honorable Mentions:
  • Getting my first job
  • Starting to drive
  • Started my Senior year
  • Danced with the homecoming King at our dance whom I had the biggest crush on
  • Hit 10,000 views on Kill-Screen
  • Got accepted to Stetson University
Overall, 2012 was great, but I know 2013 has a lot in store. I can't wait to see what you bring to the table 2013. RIP 2012. I hope you guys all had a great old year and have an even better New Year.
